Mindsplash
Spark!Lab
As a drafter and project manager contracted by Mindsplash, I developed the Smithsonian Spark!Lab exhibit for Magic City Discovery Museum in Minot, North Dakota.
I managed every aspect of the exhibit from designing and drawing to purchasing and installation.
Isometric
This drawing is from a series that was created to inform our cabinet fabricators. It depicts the room as it would look upon entry from the southeast.
Floor Plan
This drawing of the exhibit’s floor plan includes dimensions for the room and cabinetry. It externally references the furniture to be used, sourced from educational furnishing companies such as CEF and Smith System.
Paint
This revision of the cabinetry cover page was used to show an approximate reference to the colors that would be matching the requirements of the Smithsonian and where to place them. This version is also the first to include a sink modeled after the one that will be used in the exhibit.
3D Printer Cart
One of the cabinetry units is designed to house a 3D printer, but sometimes one is not enough! This drawing helped brainstorm the possibility of adding a 2nd printer into the area by means of a custom cabinet that could be moved out to other exhibits. This design would keep the printing process completely visible, safe and accessible while giving additional storage for filament beneath.
